Contractor Duties and Responsibiliites:
 

Parts & Service Communications is responsible for many types of automotive service and repair information, parts technical information, and consumer information regarding the care and usage of automobiles and light trucks.

 

Technical Writers are writing professionals who handle the writing and production of routine publications produced by the department (owners' manuals, service manuals, service bulletins, etc.), edit drafts originally produced in Japan, and also have developed skills to write and produce specialized publications like newsletters and export market documents.

 

They conduct the final review process and must be able to reconcile conflicting requests to create a high-quality document that satisfies all.

 
Requirements:
 

BA (or equivalent work experience) in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.  

 

Three or more years of technical writing, preferably related to motor vehicles/consumer products.

 

A thorough understanding of the publications process is needed, along with experience in scheduling procedures for a large in-house publications department.
Experience as a project or job leader is helpful, along with hands-on experience in
conducting professional content and quality control reviews.

 

Technical writing, editing, and proofreading; knowledge of desktop publishing and art production capabilities; scheduling and planning for many jobs simultaneously; knowledge of motor vehicle technology.  

 

Must have experience operating PCs running software such as  Arbortext editor, FrameMaker + SGML, PageMaker, QuarkXpress, and Microsoft Office.
